Visa D with a purpose of marriage to/ legal cohabitation with a Belgian or non-EU citizen in Belgium

non-EU foreign national wishing to get married and/ or declare cohabitation in Belgium with a Belgian national or a non-EU foreign national authorized to reside in Belgium, needs to apply for a D visa at the Belgian Office, Taipei if the applicant resides in Taiwan.

Both the applicant and the partner should be over 21 years old.

Please prepare 1 set of original and 2 sets of copies for all the mentioned documents below: 

  • Printed and signed copy of your Visa On Web application forms 
  • Recent passport size photograph in color
  • Proof of payment of the visa administrative fee (Find more information on the Immigration Office website)
  • passport valid for at least 12 months (15 months for recognized refugees or stateless persons)
  • A copy of your ARC if you are a foreigner residing in Taiwan.
  • medical certificate filled out by the hospital approved by the Belgian Office, Taipei stating that you are not suffering from a disease that may endanger public health. The certificate can also be submitted to any other hospital of your choice. In this case it will be subject to authentication.
  • An authenticated criminal record (see authentication procedure) issued by the country of origin or the country of last residence
  • A travel insurance, valid at least up until the date when the applicant will start being covered by the Belgian mutual insurance, covering any costs of repatriation for medical reasons, emergency medical care, and/or emergency hospital care during the stay/s on the Schengen territory (with minimum cover of 30.000 EUR).
  • An authenticated birth certificate, accompanied by a legalized translation into one of the national languages.
  • An authenticated certificate of single status, accompanied by a legalized translation into one of the national languages.
  • An authenticated family register, accompanied by a legalized translation into one of the national languages.
  • A chronological history/account of relationship with the partner in Belgium: any proof of a lasting and stable relationship between the applicant and the partner in Belgium.
  • For the partner in Belgium:
  1. Belgian ID card / residence card in Belgium
  2. Certificate of single status: a document proving unmarried status; also known as certificate or celibacy/certificate of capacity of marriage/certificate of no impediment, etc. 
  3. Proof that the partner in Belgium is affiliated with a mutual insurance/has medical insurance 
  4. Proof of stable, regular, and sufficient means of subsistence 
  5. Proof of sufficient housing: rental contract with a MyRent registration; or a proof of ownership of a residence.
