General information
If the family members apply for a D visa on the same day as the Single Permit holder, as a general rule their visa can be issued relatively fast.
If the family members apply for a D visa on a separate day, but within 6 months after the date of issuance of the D visa for the Single Permit holder, as a general rule, their visa can be issued relatively fast.
If the family members apply for a D visa later than 6 months after the date of issuance of the D visa for Single Permit holder, their files will be sent to the Belgian Immigration Office for decision.
Documents to be submitted by all applicants
Please prepare 1 set of originals and 2 sets of copies for all the mentioned documents below:
- Two printed and signed copy of your Visa On Web application forms On each form a passport size photograph must be affixed
- A valid passport (more than 12 months) and a copy thereof (only the relevant pages)
- Proof of payment of the visa administrative fee to Belgium Immigration (please click here for explanation) (only if the family member is older than 18)
- A copy of your ARC if you are a non-Taiwanese national
- Copy of the passport of the Single Permit holder
- Copy of the Single Permit (Annexe 46)
- Copy of the D visa of the Single Permit (if the single permit holder already obtained his visa)
- Copy of Belgian resident card (if the single permit holder is already in Belgium)
- Proof of family relationship : Authenticated proof of the applicant's civil status or next of kin status (family register, marriage certificate, birth certificate)
- A medical certificate filled out by the hospital approved by the Belgian Office in Taipei stating that the applicant is not suffering from a disease that may endanger public health (hospital). This certificate can also be filled out by a hospital of your choice. In that case the certificate is subject to authenticated
- If you are aged over 18, an authenticated criminal record, issued within the 6 months preceding the application
- Proof of medical insurance (certification of a “Mutuelle/Mutualiteit” in Belgium Or other proofs that the family members are covered or will be covered for medical expenses. If the family members are not yet registered with medical insurance, a travel insurance, valid at least for three months, covering any costs of repatriation for medical reasons, emergency medical care, and/or emergency hospital care during the stay/s on the Schengen territory (with minimum cover of 30.000 EUR)
- Proof of sufficient housing (if the single permit holder is already in Belgium OR If the family members apply for a visa at the same time as the Single Permit approval: Certificate from the employer stating that sufficient housing will be provided)
- Proof that the single permit holder has stable, regular, and sufficient means of subsistence (If the family members apply for a visa at the same time as the Single Permit approval: Letter from the employer stating the amount of salary (gross and net, monthly or annually ; If the family members apply for a visa after the Single Permit holder approval enters Belgium: Letter from the employer stating the amount of salary (gross and net, monthly or annually) AND salary slips from Belgium).
Additional documents to be produced by some family members
For children under 18 years old
In case of divorce, the authenticated proof that the children are under the custody and financial care of the spouse/partner or person to be joined in Belgium. In cases of shared custody, the authenticated proof that the child can join the spouse/partner in Belgium.
For disabled children over 18 years and single
a certificate from a doctor approved by the Belgian Office Taipei stating that the disabled child is unable to meets its own needs.
For a partner of a registered partnership
- an authenticated copy of the partnership certificate
- a certificate issued by a Belgian city hall stating the civil status of the Belgian partner to be joined
- evidence of your long lasting relationship of minimum2 years (letters, e-mails…). Evidence of the fact that you have met your partner at least 3 times during the last year, with a minimum of 45 days in total
