There are 2 stages for applying for a work visa:
Application for single permit
Foreign workers who want to pursue salaried employment in Belgium must obtain a single permit which combines both a working and a residence permit. Application for this single permit is done by the employer through the corresponding regional authorities where it is located (Flanders, Wallonia, Brussels-Capital).
In order for your employer to obtain a single permit for you in Belgium, you will need to submit the following documents:
- A copy of a valid passport (more than 12 months)
- A medical certificate filled out by a (hospital) approved by the Belgian Office in Taipei stating that the applicant is not suffering from a disease that may endanger public health
- An authenticated criminal record if you are aged over 18
- Proof of payment of the visa administrative fee (please click here for explanation)
- Proof of health insurance covering all risks for the applicant and his/her family (Note, this can be guaranteed by the employer)
- Proof of sufficient financial means during your stay in Belgium and of the duration of the employment contract (Note, this can be provided by the employer)
Application for a long stay visa D
Once the single permit has been issued, please fill in a visa application form on Visa On Web before making your appointment. When coming to the Belgian Office for the issuance of your working visa, please bring the following documents:
- Two printed and signed copy of your Visa On Web application forms
- 2 recent passport size photograph in color
- A valid passport (more than 12 months)
- A copy of the decision to grant you a single permit ("annex 46")
Note
If your spouse and/or children wish to join you they will need a long stay visa (see family reunion visa). For more information for your specific situation, please contact us by email (taipei@diplobel.fed.be) or via our Facebook page (@belgianofficetaipei).
